The T. family lives is a small house with two rooms. The mother of the three children, Ana, Liviu and Valentin died two years ago because of a terrible disease. The father tried to keep them at home and not split them up, even though everyone in the family wanted to give them to social services. The three children stayed together, but, after losing his job, the father left to Spain in order to be able to raise his three children.
“Right now we live with our grandmother, who is old. Dad had money problems and left for Spain a few months ago. My grandmother is very sick and can barely make food. We get by on our own, as best we can. We have pigs and poultry, other than that there’s not much to do in the yard. Now that it’s winter, it’s harder to deal with the fire. We take turns making it. We are happy together and don’t want to be split up”, said Liviu, 15 years old.
The children like school a lot. Ana’s favourite subject is math. “I like learning a lot. When I come back from school, I do my homework quickly so I can help my brothers clean up and cook. We have a daily schedule: we cook, wash clothes, take care of the animals in the yard and then do our homework. Now that it’s winter, whoever gets home first starts a fire so the house will be warm at night”, said Ana, 10 years old. The youngest child, Ana Maria has health problems, doesn’t gain weight and is not developed normally for her age. Since her mother died, she hasn’t seen a doctor and her brothers don’t have enough money to buy her the treatment she needs. Their father barely sends them enough money for food. For the holidays, the children want clothes, school supplies and shoes.”
“Winter is here and it’s very cold. For Christmas I really want us to have boots and new clothes like other children. But my dream is for dad to come back home. We miss him a lot”, said Valentin, 14 years old. There are many children like them. Help them!
