With big, black eyes, talkative and clever, Andra, 7 years old, brings joy to everyone around her. She lives with her younger brother, Mario, 4 years old, and her grandparents in a village in the south of Romania, where the break from civilisation is still obvious. People are caught in the place’s routine, are confronted with poverty, the lack of jobs, reduced and expensive possibilities for transportation to the city or the neighbouring villages. Most make a living by working the fields and raising animals.
Because she couldn’t find a job, Andra’s mother decided to go to work abroad. For Andra, being away from her mother is hard and painful and, most times, when she misses her very much, she finds refuge in drawing. She likes drawing trees and flowers a lot. She keeps all of her drawings in order to give them to her mother when she comes home. Unfortunately, her mother can only come once a year and the days spent together are insufficient, given how much she and the children miss each other throughout the year.
All of this effort is for the children to have an easier life. Whenever she can, she sends them clothes and shoes so they can go to school and she tries to save money for their future. There are many children like them. Help them!
